(1) What is KOTOLE (Koto lessons)?
It is the learning material of Koto that has been recorded in the mp3 files for beginners.
At the lesson of Koto, the teacher usually plays the accompaniment for a learner.
So, KOTOLE consists of three kinds of sound sources such as the learner’s part, the teacher’s part and their ensemble.
You can listen to only the sound that you want to practice.
In addition, it is played slower than a commercial CD.
If the original speed is fast, KOTOLE includes also a faster version of ensemble that is played with normal speed close to the original.
(2)How to use it?
At first, let’s listen to the sound source of your part to learn melody and a flow of the music.
Next, let’s play together hearing it.
And, try to play together hearing the sound source of the ensemble.
Finally, you should practice to play together hearing the sound source of another part.

(4) Who is the target?
The intended users are people who have just begun to learn Koto.
The music that KOTOLE deals in is for beginners.
There are lots of etudes of Koto, but they are not known well to the people who had no relation to the Koto.
In addition, in the lesson of Koto, the learner plays an ensemble with the teacher.
It may be difficult for beginners to play an ensemble because they cannot afford to pay attention to another part.
KOTOLE helps them to know the music and to get used to play an ensemble.
(5) How was KOTOLE born?
KOTOLE was born from the voice of students at the Koto school.
In the lesson of Koto, you play an etude with your teacher.
After that, when you come back to your home and review it, it may be difficult to play alone, especially if you are a beginner.
This is because you may not remember the melody only by following the score.
Even if you listen to the CD, that is not good for a beginner like you.
It must be difficult to pick up the sound that you want to play, because it was recorded by an ensemble and played too fast for beginners.
KOTOLE was born to support the students who cannot practice alone well at home.
It had been tried by the students actually and it was completed after the piled improvement.

The school is the way of IKUTA.
The teacher is a Shihan（Master）at the Ikuta-school Miyagi Koto Association.
