Lesson of KOTO

At the lesson of Koto, teacher and learner are sitting down in front of each Koto and sitting down face to face.

First time in lesson, you learn the structure of Koto, how making a sound, tuning, how to read a score.

Next, you try to play easy music, for example “Sakura Sakura”(It’s very famous music in Japan).

After that, you learn etudes for Koto.

You know Chopin Etudes or Minuet of Bach.

There are a lot of beautiful etudes for Koto like that.

But these musics are very rare even for modern Japanese people.

You listen to the music to know what melody that music have.

In the lesson, you learn how to play melody exactly.
